E3 2011 – A Look Back

Well it’s another year of E3, come and gone. Compared to some years in the past, this E3 felt a little quieter and lacking in big reveals. I think the next unforgettable E3 will be when Microsoft and Sony announce new consoles, but personally I’d happy if the “PS4″ and “Xbox 720″ are another 3-4yrs out at least. When Sony first brought out the PS3 they mentioned a 10yr cycle, and with today’s always online gaming world, that’s highly plausible. The older consoles weren’t capable of online firmware updates and graphics technology was pushing new boundaries every month.

E3 2011 Day 3

All good things must come to an end, and here we are at the end of another year’s E3 event. Returning next year to the LA Convention Center, this will be the final year of the ESA’s contract, so we’ll have to wait and see if LA can keep it’s hold on the biggest gaming convention of the year. Quite a bit of stuff was shown today, so let’s get started with some of the reviews. I wasn’t able to give props to everything shown this year, because obviously there’s just way too much to give mention as a solo writer, so hit me up if there’s something you found awesome that I missed. Stay tuned tomorrow as well for my E3 recap.

E3 2011 Day 2

Posted by Daelenn • Thursday, June 9th, 2011

E3Logo

Day 2 and 3 of E3 tend to be a little more boring by comparison to the first two days. Now that the major companies have gotten their press conferences out of the way, most of the rest of the event involves the show room floor and a smattering of hands on demos, previews and website updates. With that said, Day 2 still had some cool updates, with some of the standouts being games like Batman: Arkham City and Star Wars the Old Republic. So without further ado, here’s some of what was shown off on Day 3 of E3 2011.

E3 2011 Day 1

So E3 officially kicked off yesterday, even though Microsoft and Sony already held their press conferences on Monday. Yesterday Nintendo came out swinging though and shared a lot of info on what’s coming to their new 3DS as well as just what Project Cafe is all about. Sorry for the delay in posting as well, got a lot going on and a lot of info to sift through as well. So here we go~

E3 2011 Day 0

E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, officially kicks off it’s 3 days of gaming info Tuesday, June 7th and goes through Thursday, June 9th. As always though, some companies begin pumping out the info the day before, hence the Day 0 tag on this post. For those unfamiliar with E3, it is the world’s largest gaming expo, and almost every major company in the world attends these expos each year in Los Angeles to show off what they’re working on. Some of the games on show will be out the upcoming Fall season, while many may not be out till the next Spring or even 2yrs down the road. The big 3 hardware manufacturers utilize E3 to showcase their next-generation consoles as well. Before this gets wordy, let’s move on to what the day had to show everyone.

Rift: Reviewing the Planes of Telara

Posted by Daelenn • Friday, May 20th, 2011

Port Scion

Released at the beginning of March, Rift is a new MMO by Trion Worlds that has already gained a healthy following world-wide. The game borrows heavily from many of the MMOs that have come before, as well as creating an entirely new world with it’s own lore and it’s own gimmick in the form of Rifts. Considering the massive scope involved with an MMO, and the naturally tumultuous nature of the post-launch updating, I like to give the game some time to catch it’s stride before I give an opinion. Having played the game since around Closed Beta 4 and through Open Beta to Head Start and in all the months since, I’d like to take some time and give a review of how the game has grown and where I think it is headed.

Review of Final Fantasy XIV

Posted by Daelenn • Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

FFXIV Limsa Daelenn

It’s been awhile since I’ve had much to say about Final Fantasy XIV, so I felt it was a good time to give a frank review of the game. I wanted to do this sooner, but with how poor the quality of the game was at release, I wanted to give Square some time to get their act together. Obviously, that’s going to take a lot longer than most people had believed, so I’m going to give a review of the game from the viewpoint of someone who has played since Beta and through to the latest updates.

Liberi-Fatali.net v6.0

Posted by Daelenn • Monday, May 9th, 2011

New Site

Welcome to the new and improved liberi-fatali.net website, version 6.0. Over the years our websites have grown from forum after forum into a much larger website. This latest iteration is a continuation of our site from the past year, with many updates. For once, however, we’ve kept the same forum database, so I’m sure our members are happy to know they don’t have to create new accounts for a change.

Some of the changes this time around are minor or cosmetic, while others are much more noticeable. The front page and the menu are two of the biggest changes that I hope people notice right away, and make use of them.

End of Beta & Pre-launch Info

Posted by Daelenn • Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Goodbye Beta
Goodbye Beta

Farewell to FFXIV's Beta

Sunday night was the official end of the Final Fantasy XIV Beta. I hope anyone that took the time to check out the Closed or Open Betas enjoyed their preview of the game. The Beta definitely left me with more questions than answers, but I was able to begin getting a handle on the combat and crafting systems as well as the interesting UI that Square is using this time around.
