A comprehensive guide and FAQ for Star Wars the Old Republic, brought to you by Daelenn.
This is a work in progress and contains numerous elements from the SWTOR MMO developed by Bioware. The guide portion is a compilation of information from various sources as well as first hand experience from Daelenn as a Beta tester for over 6 months before the game was released.

Complete obedience. When I raid lead that is what I demand. If I say wipe, the group huddles in a corner to kiss their asses. If I say the boss is dying this attempt, it keels over and sprays purples at us. If I say jump in a fiery pit of lava because I got tired of Mins and Lubu messing up with the map, THE GROUP DOES IT. Guys, SHUT UP, this is seriously how we get back to Stormwind. Look, its right after Google Maps says to not jump in the large hole…um…I’ll have to get back to you guys.

Tensions arise as Tif completes ZG…without Dae! A quarrel in lover’s paradise occurs when Mograin catches Lubu with DR! Rathren returns from his big-game hunt in Nagrand…with no sign of Meukee, dead or alive! Mins’s evil twin Competent Healer crashes the raid! Riot comes back from the dead, only to find himself deep-fried again! Will Liberi Fatali survive? Can Hachi continue to write terrible jokes and still expect readers or is he resigned to working for SNL? Will his attempts to catch the eye of Demon’s daughter end miserably? Find out next week on All Hachi’s Children!

Released at the beginning of March, Rift is a new MMO by Trion Worlds that has already gained a healthy following world-wide. The game borrows heavily from many of the MMOs that have come before, as well as creating an entirely new world with it’s own lore and it’s own gimmick in the form of Rifts. Considering the massive scope involved with an MMO, and the naturally tumultuous nature of the post-launch updating, I like to give the game some time to catch it’s stride before I give an opinion. Having played the game since around Closed Beta 4 and through Open Beta to Head Start and in all the months since, I’d like to take some time and give a review of how the game has grown and where I think it is headed.

Before getting side-tracked by last week’s topic, I’d wanted to talk about the new troll heroics and their propensity to drown hunters in poison and decapitate healers. If you can’t tell yet, I’ve had some bad experiences with these places, even with a full group of Hachi Scouts. This is precisely why you should do these new heroics. “But Hachi!” you cry. “I’m clearly not as good or as sexy as you!” And how right you are!

It’s been awhile since I’ve had much to say about Final Fantasy XIV, so I felt it was a good time to give a frank review of the game. I wanted to do this sooner, but with how poor the quality of the game was at release, I wanted to give Square some time to get their act together. Obviously, that’s going to take a lot longer than most people had believed, so I’m going to give a review of the game from the viewpoint of someone who has played since Beta and through to the latest updates.

I really grappled with how to approach this week’s blog (and yes, I’m aware I’m a week late but I took a much needed mental break). A rather important event in world history took place, something I wasn’t entirely certain I felt comfortable commenting on. No, it wasn’t the fact that I solo’ed the last boss of ZA from 25% or that the single mob I killed at a dig site dropped a Hyacinth Macaw. It wasn’t even the astoundingly cute girl who has taken more than a slight passing interest in me. These are all important instances obviously, but in all seriousness there was a rather significant piece of news.

Happy Hachimas everyone! We celebrate this day by the mailing Hachi bits of gold in traditional envelopes. This is said to bring good luck and fortune for the rest of the year. Oh and there’s this little thing that no one observes called Easter going on. I really don’t know who in the world belongs to that faith. Hunters maybe?

Alright you may be scratching your head and asking yourself “what the hell am I looking at? That’s a standard UI.” You’re right, it mostly is. That’s the beauty of it. You don’t NEED addons to excel. They can help significantly but overreliance on addons can be as much of a crutch as not having any. Your personal needs may run the gamut from none at all to extreme customization.
